This item is one of a series collected under my title -
Amblin' Around Australia.

a Flight to Adventure -
QF 1040 10/9/05 1.35pm.

From Sydney to Broome, flying high flying fast
across mountains and rivers, over sand dunes so vast.
Striated rust runs, foliage deep greens,
from ten thousand feet barely moving it seems.

White cotton clouds slowly creep, down below,
cast contrasting patterns of smoky shadow.
Lake Eyre our great salt lake, just a bit to the left,
a dip of the wing by a captain so deft -
Uluru through a window, just a portal in size,
a frame for a monument with a backdrop, pale skies.

Away to a future, Kimberley in the West,
a flight to adventure to be taken with zest .
Cable Beach just at sunset, Tunnel Creek through the earth,
mountains of miracles of which there’s no dearth.
Geikie Gorge, Bungle Bungles - whirlybird overflight.

Our country - Australia.
What a wonderful sight.

Cable Beach Sunset.

Sun slowly sinking from noonday to dusk,
creeping its path from east into west.
Rainbow hued mushrooms sit stick-poled in sand,
another delightful day is coming to rest.

People and wild birds have bathed in a sea
of turquoise tranquillity which stretches afar.
The Indian Ocean, that elegant expanse,
but now as the sun wanes - a first evening star.

Cream coloured sand is becoming white,
speckled by beach flags idling in breeze
until in a moment they rest once again, while
children make castles bent down on their knees.

Beach jugglers and acrobats perform just as the sun
touches the ocean in a soft, fading glow.
A scene is now set with performers on stage,
sea with the sand join hands in embrace,
while a backdrop of beauty is painted to view.
Now it is time to take up your place.

Listen intently to hear a soft kiss -

Be at one in this moment.

It is not one to miss.

Cathedrals in Stone.

Weathered sandstone structures,
towering over there,
variegated reds and yellows
almost everywhere.

Mudstone from millennia
fired into place.
Cathedral Gorge
magnificent,
with ochre painted face.

Picaninny
walking track
beside a now stilled stream
this place
has awesome memories
from the time of dream.

Kimberley Grandeur -
Windjana.

• Windjana Gorge- as you can see,
• has its own glorious, natural beauty.

• Her grandeur, her colours, her breathtaking hues.
• Formed by rain pounding limestone into submission,
• while wind and erosion uncovered these views.

• Standing above an alluvial floodplain are escarpments
that rang with the voice of the law - when
• Jandamarra
• shot his way into this country’s history.

• Now
• he is recorded in
• Kimberley folklore.
