Growing Raybeams

Growing Raybeams

They knew little of the seasons,
Other than what had been told.
They'd heard something of the Summer,
And had felt the Winter’s cold.
They ignored the old conventions,
And the practice of the day.
So when they planted Raybeams,
-They sprouted straight away.

They had little space to work with,
What they had they managed well.
They refused to take advice,
And when asked – they didn’t tell.
They endured the frost and dry times,
And the coldest winds that blew.
They believed in growing Raybeams,
And so their Raybeams grew.

When they could have made a harvest,
They just let the Raybeams seed.
(For they each had their own Raybeam,
Which was all they’d ever need)
So the fields outgrew the planting,
As the seeds fell to the ground.
They had tried a crop of Raybeams,
Now they grew for miles around.

Now they wander with each other,
And fulfil each other’s needs.
And no matter where they travel,
They will always scatter seeds.
So the Raybeams now grow wild,
All along the path they’ve made.
Their dream was growing Raybeams,
And they never let it fade.

Oh but raybeams are so nasty they are white and they are hot
and they’d knock your socks off instantly if with them you were shot.
They burn holes in their targets and are like a lightning strike.
If I knew the bloke growing raybeams I’d suggest he take a hike.

What kind of Raybeams are we talking about Hully???   Are the growers green?

Maureen - 'Raybeam' is a pet name that my partner and I use....a bit cheesy I know, but its so quiet I thought it might raise a smile....
