Clean Up Australia

Put this up a while back but made a few changes .

Clean Up Australia

Old bits of plastic and butts that are soggy
Cans and old bottles, dried presents from doggy
Newspapers, plastic bags covered in gunk
I tell ya it’s all my least favourite junk.

Macdonald wrappers, a Kentucky container
Hungry Jack packets and an old washing drainer
Fish heads and dead prawns with maggots galore
Cleaning up after people can be such a bore.

When the wind blows or the sun shines
and if I'm feeling sad !
I simply remember the good things we do
then I don't feel ----------- so bad.

Motor car bodies and bikes with their wheels bent
Old shopping trolleys, an old air- con fan vent
Rubbish bins, fishing line and old trawler rope
When we started we thought we would not have a hope.

Volunteers by the hundreds they scoured roads and highways
Cleaned up under bridges, back roads and bi-ways
Tidied our beaches, walked many a mile
Filled up each truckload and did so with a smile.

So I say thank you ------ all you good folk
prepared to have a go.
Pull on some boots and grab your rubber gloves
every little bit helps ---------- you know.

My apologies to Julie Andrew
Thank You Australia

I don't quite see you as girl from the convent Bob  you want to offer that one to the radio or TV for ads.

Good one Bob
As I was driving down from up north I was surprised to notice a group of people
in a very remote area, doing precisely what you're suggesting.

I have had a dash at it myself in the past, we're a grotty old mob aren't we?

Not wrong Terry we can be grubs well some of us anyway. I have noticed a lot of rubbish on my daily drive to work and made up my mind to clean up some of it this weekend.

Cheers mate Have sent it to Clean Up Australia

G'day Bob,

Yeah you know people don't care anymore. I see crews where I am at the side of the roads cleaning up. Many times they have bags of the stuff heaped up. Maybe two 7 tonne loads. I have seen community groups pick a stretch of road and make it a habit to bi-monthly clean it up.

But the problem is trash and keeping the beautiful bush clean. I believe more education and caring is the only way.

Good words.

Well I'll be buggered went to work today and that streach i was talking about was being cleaned up by an elderly lady. i stopped and offered to take the three bags she had filled which she was most gratefull for.

She said i was the second one to stop and the first fella gave her the floro vest she was wearing. first time I have been glad someone beat me to a job.

Cheers Bob.
