Legendary old-time bush poet Keith Garvey will always be remembered for his poems on outback people. i first met keith around 1990 and a few more times after that.
He lived with his brother Ernie at the family home near the gwydir river and worked in the bush. after Ernie passed away Keith sold the house and moved to Glen innes.
He made regular trips back to his home town and often brought other bush poets along for the company. he was known to have made trips to Bourke to meet up again with drovers and poets. Keith Garvey was a great inspiration to any young Australian bush poet.

Is there possibly a couple of words about dampers left off after the last verse Bill? Seems unfinished without a final mention.

The last verse goes

Follered his funeral without regret
Went where there's plenty of heat, I'll bet
For dampers
And it's safe to bet the devil could tell
How he sits all day by the hearth of hell
With his sack of flour and his evil smell
Cookin' dampers.....Soddy bloody dampers

Easy to Google. Try not to post someone else's poem without doing so in it's entirety. It does them an injustice.
