Homework w/e 18.3.13
Village street
The village store;
fresh eggs, good coffee, art, fig jam,
old books and more.
The butcher’s shop,
with smell of meat, a chink of steel
and cleaver’s chop.
Strong petrol fumes,
the bowser’s whirr, a spanner’s clink,
exhaust smoke plumes.
A weedy park
a broken swing, some scratchy sand,
kids after dark.
Untimely death
hot tears, warm cakes, kind arms entwined,
soft baby’s breath.
Community
support in need, the casseroles
of unity.
