THE RURAL WATCH
We’ve gotten pretty modern in the backblocks we call home,
way out in station country where the Bunyips used to roam.
The nearest towns just down the track two hundred clicks away,
yet stock was disappearing and I don’t mean gone astray.
So now we have a Rural Watch to catch these flam’en crooks,
and methods we’ll be using won’t be found in legal books.
We’re armed and ready these days - and we’re looking for a fight,
God help those thieving rustlers should we catch them out one night.
The folk from all the stations here have formed a fighting group,
where pairs are nightly on patrol and ready now to swoop.
All names were placed within a hat to see who paired with whom,
and lady luck had paired me with the one girl in that room.
My life has changed forever after pairing up that night,
with Jenny Brown a Jilleroo who set my pulse alight.
She wore a white Akubra over hair of burnished gold,
her face was tanned and beautiful; she’s twenty two years old.
And I was smitten from the first and Jenny felt the same,
such are the compensations in the Rural watching game.
Those long cold nights now hold no fear while out there on patrol,
with Jenny snuggled up to me we’re fully in control.
It’s months now since we started out to track those mongrels down,
but there’s been some distractions, since I met sweet Jenny Brown,
There’s more to life than caching thieves as we have both found out,
we haven’t found those rustlers yet, but will one day no doubt.

Oh Terry - sounds to me like you aren't trying too hard to catch them rustlers - but then these things take a long time to suss out
Love it. love it - It's great the way prompts take us in so many different directions - I would never have thought of this. You are so clever - well done.

Hi Dot
How are things up your way, pretty wet here at the moment.
Glad you enjoyed this.
Terry
Hi Maureen,
It can be a lot of fun doing home work; a chance to let your imagination run wild.
And as you say it's always interesting reading how we all interpret things in our own individual ways.
Cheers Terry
