Homework 23/2/2015

Post by Bob Pacey » Mon Feb 09, 2015 9:39 am

My Mother Said

She said "Never worry worry until worry worries you".
My mother used to tell us there is not much you can do.
These things are sent to try us and it will only make you strong
Have a chat with someone the way to a friends house is never long.

Don't mistake the shadow for the substance it will only cause more grief
Leave well enough alone and the pain will be so brief.
The longest night still has a morning and the daylight comes again.
No good crying over split milk or going off your brain.

Take the good times with the bad times and karma will prevail
you can go a long way southward with a good wind in ya sail.
So make the best of what you have and give all you can give
you only get one shot at life and it is yours alone to live.

I can recall my grandmothers favourite sayings.

when asked why she was doing something

" For fun and fancy to please old Nancy "

and

when asked where something was

" It is up in Nannies room behind the clock "

Good one Bob - looks like it really rolled off the pen!!

My favourite piece of "grandma's wisdom" came when someone had dropped their bottom lip: "Well, we've got the sulky, now all we need is the horse."

And in these days of single layer clothing, would any young girl recognise this ... "Don't look now dear, but it's snowing down south"??

Good prompts, Maureen - gets the grey cells clunking :)

Cheers, Shelley
