Homework 26/06/17: Innovation!

Innovation!

© David Campbell 16/06/17

A plethora of poets
went hunting for some rhymes,
but couldn’t fill their quotas
by finishing the lines
with proper rhyming patterns
that followed all the rules,
so someone said: “Why bother?
Let’s toss convention out!
In the name of innovation let metre languish too,
and with appropriate standards lacking
we can tackle Maureen’s homework
with more public confidence than usual.

Light a candle to our freedom! Let the words
flow like a river of luminous colour
under illuminated bridges of such inspiring narrative
that nobody will notice the end result
looks rather like free verse.”

Love it - inspired on all counts David - a veritable pot-pourri of naturally fragrant words mixed in a bowl to create uniquely scented poetry

I may not always succeed in making a difference, but I will go to my grave knowing I at least tried.

Great description, Maureen - in other words - a mish-mash of pungent pong!!!

I love it, David - and in light of recent discussion and debate on the merits of rhyme and metre in bush poetry - dare I say, "We rest our case"?

Cheers

Thanks Maureen, Shelley, and Wendy. Yep, I like the alliteration of "potpourri of pungent pong"...or maybe a "wandering wiver of wandom words" as that well-known literary critic Elmer Fudd might have said?

Cheers
David
