Now there's a different take on the prompts - really enjoyed this Maureen; you paint the picture so well! I didn't go to the Cross that often, but in the early eighties my boss's ex-husband ran a small hotel there so we'd have several work dinners out at the Bourbon Beefsteak and a few other restaurants around there. A few years later I used to go to a place called the Bottoms Up Bar, which was great for people watching, but mostly I enjoyed it because they played brilliant music! Such a colourful area - since then I've seen plenty of such places in Asia, but back then I was pretty green - and I never saw No.96 either!

In its day No 96 was considered a rather raunchy and slightly shocking TV show - today I suspect it would be laughed off the TV screen and the acting as I recall was rather bad - but like many soapies they had a dedicated audience - dare I confess to watching Home and Away ever since it began - however many years ago that was
