Peppytweak

Peppytweak was mortified, his Poggle was askew!
He tried to put it right but wasn’t quite sure what to do.
If he went to the Cuddlequash in such peculiar state,
they’d certainly turn him away and promptly lock the gate!

He went to see the Buppafix but found he couldn’t help,
in fact when Buppa saw him thus he gave a mighty yelp!
Never had he seen a Poggle oriented so,
and how it could be rectified-he really didn’t know.

Peppy tweak was heartbroken, the Goffles gawked at him,
the little Piffles laughed out loud creating such a din
that pretty Flowerlulu was awoken from her sleep…
she then saw Peppy’s Poggle –Oh! - and she began to weep!

The Cuddlequash the setting for unveiling their romance,
while Hoppintogs played twirlyjogs and led a merry dance.
The banquet tables would be set with Tummy-yums and Yurk,
the Piffles would be running free and driving all berserk.

The Goffles came from miles around to celebrate these things
and brought with them their Himpledues, such brightly coloured things!
They celebrated Inclemas and Piffles passage rights
These Cuddlequashes sometimes went for seven days and nights.

But now how could she give her hand to such as Peppytweak
whose Poggle used to be – just so – the talk of Goffle’s Creek.
He covered it with oogleblogs but that was not enough,
“A shame!” cried all the Goffles ,cause he used to be ‘hot stuff’.

So Peppytweak, his Poggle bent, his fam’ly name now mud
relinquished his high status come from royal dragon blood
and crept away to find someplace where he could start anew,
a place where no-one minded that his Poggle was askew!

I love it Wen. It reminded me of the story of the Gobbledocks. Well written.

Cheers

Great work Wendy. Poetry is made from words says John Whitworth, you have shown that.

One small item that is a niggle of mine, I see that you put fam'ly in the last stanza to fit the metre. If you want to do it that way, so be it. :)

My contention with the sticklers is that in standard everyday Aussie speech family is pronounced as fam'ly, the letter i hardly sounds, so In my opinion we don't need to write things like that. Just my opinion. ;) :o

Marty - Nev....
I did hover over the apostrophe key for a while.
I avoid anything like it for competitions now - too scared to use it!!!

Better to be safe than sorry?

    shades of Teletubbies and Gobbledoks with a good mixture of Jabberwockies - and what a great fun read it is Wendy. Well done. IMO the littllies would love hearing this recited in a scary voice

Cheers

My daughter thinks I should illustrate it....
any ideas on what a Goffle's Poggle should look like?

Hellooo Wendy. I'm in a rush, (lucky you) so this will be short. I can't speak for others but when I judge, abbreviations like 'fam'ly' give me hives. My view is that I can well see the author's intention & allow (& prefer) the unabbreviated.
Gotta fly...catchya later...

Maybe his poggle is a central horn that somehow now isn't central because it has slipped to above his eye and to make matters worse it has gone all curly maybe due to wet weather which Goffles don't like. Once it was fine and straight and magnificent :( He was the horniest Goffle around - but now...........................
