My brother Bill

Dad worked for the local power board
as he'd done for many years
and each year they would have a Christmas party.
We’d dress up in our best clothes
and they’d take our picture too
the celebration it was always hale and hearty.

My older brother Bill would watch me
cause I was really, really shy.
and he knew I always was mums favourite son.
When Santa handed out the presents
he always put me first in line
Then we played party games it really was such fun.

When Bill grew up he moved away
when I was still at school.
So it‘s not often now we get to see each other.
But I always will remember
the good times that we had.
there is nothing quite as special as a brother.

he does have that look of a kid that's scared of Santa and his big brother is helping out with some reassurance. It's the things like that we remember when we get old. I remember the last fight I had with my little (then) brother who grew to be 6 foot 7 inches tall and earned the nickname 'Lofty'. He flattened me and I never laid a hand on him again.   But when other kids picked on him I flattened them. He was after all my little brother. ;)
