Triolet for The Economy

Triolet for The Economy

The gods of this world shine with silver and gold,
where men bring their offerings, faithfully rendered.
They promise the pleasure of riches untold
for those who will serve gods of silver and gold.
All things have a price, all booty is plundered,
no principle held that cannot be surrendered.
How brightly the gods gleam with silver and gold,
to whom all the scruples and concience are rendered.
