Make a Wish (Homework)

Make a wish
(but not if Aunt Clara is around).
“I wish I could fly,” said the grey kangaroo.
A wombat nearby said, “I’d like to fly too.
That bread truck that’s speeding each day on the road,
will squash me one day, like a poisonous toad.”
Aunt Clara the witch caught this wish on the fly
but she gets things muddled and maybe that’s why
the shocked bread truck driver at end of the road
delivered a wombat, a grey roo and toad.

Bush tucker - just the shot when you're casting spells or searching for
eye of newt
Poor old Clara maybe just had a hiccup in her grocery order. Fun write Leonie and glad to see you take the challenge and handle it so well. Maybe it wasn't such a hard challenge after all

You and David have made it look easy
Cheers
Maureen

Thanks Maureen. It was pretty hard actually (at least for me). It was the word 'bread' that threw me at first. I had trouble with that one and 'road' to a lesser degree, once I had a bread truck I kept wanting to substitute 'load' for 'road'.
I was thinking about why I don't do these homework topics all that often anymore, and I think I've figured out why. It's because I have to log in to actually see them. I pop in fairly regularly to have a bit of a read but don't always log in. I'd probably do them more often if I didn't have to log in to find them.
Is there any reason why they are in the 'hidden' section of the forum? When I do log in I'm inclined to catch up on the general threads and by the time I've waded through them I've forgotten what I came in for.

Talk about senior moments.

I don't know why they are hidden Leonie. Mannie would.

The most intriguing poetic thing for Queenslanders ( Bob and Leonie ) is a vision of squashed toads.

Yep Neville, that's it. Give us the word 'road' to play with and you can almost guarantee the first rhyming word we'll think of is 'toad' - preferably flat. The two words work so well together.
