Homework 18/3/13 - This Land

THIS LAND
All life needs water
for thirst will slaughter
cruelly – but the Mother
knows her land well
and history tells
drought follows seasons of plenty.
Life is for living,
love forgiving ,
we must nurture like a brother.
Fierce winds and flood,
red dragons blood
sent, till we’re running on empty.
Devoid of hope
and over the joke,
she brings us down to our knees.
None are so free
as those girt by sea -
this land’s unlike any other.
