Pete’s Predicament

Pete pondered on the principle of playful preparation
As the preacher posed a problem of his punctuality
With matrimony menacing, no motive for mishandling
Pete promised he’d be prompt and bring his personality

The pastor preached to Peter the importance of perfection
Sharing skills at school he studied more than several years ago
Pete’s predicament now placed him in positions quite precarious
His wedding would be wonderful, not wasted, apropos

He considered his conviction of the crisis he created
When he consolidated contracts he should cancel come what may
No degree of daily doubles would distract him from his dealing
Nor the wonder that was waiting on his wistful wedding day

The day drew on from dawning; Pete decided not to dally
Preparing for procedures during phases promised Patsy
Wedding wonders over; what would be would be, would be
Begging bridal blisses being wouldn’t find betroth-ed batty
