Homework - 5/8

The clock said nearly half past two, up at Central Station.
Young Jaydn Jack was with his Mum, amidst much congregation.
Much movement at the Station, as a truck arrived with stock,
and station agents swarmed around and said “PLEASE DO NOT BLOCK
THE ROAD.” Trains came and went, he lost his Mum amidst the crowd,
and trod on some blokes toe who winced in pain and swore aloud;
He huffed “Respect your elders!” off young Jaydn quickly snuck
and found a friendly figure, in the bloke who drove the truck.
And dogs roamed ‘round the platforms, all just searching for a feed,
Lots of pallid faces – haunting, hurrying with speed.
Amongst the heaving throng, young Jaydn looked out for his Mum,
the Truckie sat him down and said “Young mate, don’t be so glum”
He gave a pint of milk to him, then shackled all his pullies,
“You know where that milk comes from son?” and Jaydn answered “Woolies!”

So he was a city kid?   Great work Marty - good fun and I liked , whether intentional or not, the double word play.

When I first read it I was thinking dumb kid thinking milk comes from sheep - then thought oh no Marty means Coles oppposite number. Also thinking that the Central Station could be the obvious railway station or an outback property and the truck arriving with stock could be just - full of sheep or could be the train carriages desembarking its pallid passengers , quite a few who would can be bloody huffy as I know. Not a lot of difference really. The dogs roaming the platform looking for a feed could also be a pretty good description of the scrawny 'goths' one quite often sees on city railway stations haunting vending machines.

Good job

Cheers

Maureen

Just tried to use all the prompts but out of the intented context as much as possible. ;) Clunkily put together but gets the brain working.

Cheers, Marty
