Hi Maureen

A bit late. Again! Sorry. Life is very busy for me at the moment. :lol:

‘Memories’

I sat on the rocks and gazed at the sea,
as vague memories came flooding back to me,
reflecting on times from a distant past,
of memories I thought that would never last.

I had dreamed of being a movie star,
being chauffeured around in a limousine car.
How it would happen, I hadn’t a clue
but, a dream I thought would always come true.

I’d dreamed of luxury, diamonds and pearls,
of gowns that would catch the wind when I twirled,
of maids and waiters and champagne on ice;
those dreams I had were especially nice.

But destiny had other plans for my life,
of being a mother, lover and wife.
Now time has slipped by; those dreams have now passed
but life is good and I’m having a blast.

I sat and pondered what life might have been
and knew I was right where I needed to be;
a life full of richness, family and friends;
a life I won’t swap til my journey ends.

What would our lives be without our memories Jakki? If we can reach the winter of our lives and feel contentment that's not a bad thing either I reckon - must be awful to have the feeling of discontent for things undone and not achieved and aren't movie stars a tad over rated?

Your poem has a lovely relaxed and unhurried feel to it - maybe that's why it was late getting here :lol: :lol: but why worry, better late than never. I like it.

Cheers

Maureen
