‘Stage Left’
It was a night for celebration.
Crowds were beginning to swarm.
The temperature still above 30;
the night was balmy and warm.
Filled with nervous anticipation,
artists sat at the back of the hall.
She sat quietly with the others;
(would hers be the name they’d call?)
Many artists were called before her,
each accepting a music award
but, the big one loomed even larger.
Could this be the night she scored?
The artists around her had dwindled;
how many were left she didn’t know,
for those already called forward
were seated in the very first row.
She started twisting her fingers;
perspiration beaded her brow.
The agony of expectation;
what award were they up to now?
The ultimate prize was upon them,
then she heard a name she knew.
‘Wait! That’s me! That’s me,’ she cried,
as the excitement within her grew.
With grace she slowly walked forward;
her arrival was poised and deft.
She slowly climbed the theatre stairs
making her entrance from stage left.
The applause that night was deafening
as she stepped forward to claim her prize.
She bowed in humble appreciation
with tears of gratitude in her eyes.
She had dreamed about this moment
when she’d be recognized as a star.
She stood and accepted the standing ovation
as she clutched her golden guitar.

Hi Jakki - it must be really something to get an award in recognition of your work - worth all the gut wrenching fear and trepidation that goes before it... so many of our mob are winners and rightly so - reckon you have captured their anxiousness here. Good on you.
Cheers
