Winters Day

The day was dark and windy the air cut to the bone
the only way to find some warmth was snuggled up and prone.
The fire burned in the heath and let out a warming glow
the eaves outside held icicles, the roof covered in snow.

I had to make a move soon and get ready for the day
but the thought of going out in this was turning my hair grey.
I slowly slid the covers back and slipped into my gown.
I thought another day, another dollar ya stupid bloody clown.

Aussie Pies

Some people travel round the world
they sample foods of every fare
they comment on the texture
and crave the taste of something rare.

They try caviar and frogs legs
they eat things that squish and squirm
raw fish that's dipped in sauces
cut their teeth on candied worm.

Now I've tried many foods as well
and though my choice is not so bland
some of the foods I've tried were tasteless
but some others were quite grand.

But of all the foods I've eaten
There's only one for which I'd die
cause I've never tasted better
than a juicy Aussie pie.
