Not gunna lie " Fair suck of the sav " Maureen I've already done this one.

Aussie As She Is Spoke

We Aussies are spectacular
we always have a word to suit
and to use our own vernacular
we're flaming bloody beaut.

That little shed in the back yard
though it really sounds quite funny
the Poms call it a privy
but to an Aussie its a "Dunny".

We call a girl a " Shiela "
a good ones just like gold
and any man can be just a "Bloke"
be they young or very old.

When we're flat out mate at working
well its really just "Hard Yakka "
and a bloke who doesn't do their share
is a flaming bloody "Slacker".

Now if I said that I was "Skint" mate
I've got no cash ya know
but when I say I'm sitting " Flush "
it means I'm really in the dough.

If we take a day off work
its because were ill and feeling "Crook"
and if we chuck a turn and spit it
then were just a flaming bloody "Sook".

When everything is going well
I'll say "Fair Dinkum" that'll do
but when the grey clouds gather
you can bet I'm in " The Poo ".

A "Jackie Howe's" a plain black singlet
and a "Furphy" is a lie
"Murphy's Law " says what will be will be
and to " Kark It " is to die.

"Ridgy Didge" means something's true mate
Out "Back-o-Burke" is way out west
a "Bobby-Dazzler is the greatest
a shearing "Ringer" is the best.

We can be "Flat Out Like a Lizard Drinking"
or like a "Goanna up a Tree"
or "On The Nose" and bloody stinking
and "Blind Freddie" just can't see.

A "Ratbags" not worth knowing
when we go "Walkabouts" we wander
and a "Derro" likes his grog mate
"The Territory" that's way up yonder.

When we run around in a panic
we're going like a "Hairy Goat "
and when trouble strikes you'll find us
"Up the Creek" in a barbed wire boat.

"Matilda" is the swag I carry
and a " Heelers" my blue dog
when I'm drinking beer or Bundy
I'm probably "Pissed" and on the " Grog"

If I'm "Cockie " mate I'll have a go
A Doctors sometimes called a "Quack"
A "Joe Blake" a bloody snake
The "Never-Never's" way out back.

When things are "Bonza mate" they're excellent
I eat me "Crib" when I have lunch
a "Dead Ringer" looks the bloody same.
and "King Hits" a knockout punch

When we say a blokes a "Drongo "
well really he's got no brain
a " Molly-Dookers " is left handed
"Send Her Down Hughie's" bring the rain.

If you yell and scream at someone
you would say you gave them "Curry".
and if you need to have a smoke
its a " Fag " or just a "Durrie".

" Rafferty's " say there's no rules at all
and to have a "Kips' a nap or sleep.
to " Duckshove " is to dodge a job
A " Jumbucks " just a sheep.

Its unique to us Australians
but every word just seems to suit
but I really must admit it mate
Aussie is flaming bloody beaut.

That's a god one Bob. Between yours and Marco's there is not much left to be said without going all corny on this homework. I might wait till next month I think. Well done though.
(And watch watch what you say about Ratbags!!!! lol)

Good bit of research Bob  are all of those in your vocabulary.

I know what you mean Neil. he danger of being corny or looking derivative. Very true.

I was going to do one on the winter's day homework topic and the others seemed to say it all and so well that I chickened out. However maybe there's the challenge for us, how do we say it new. If the bush poets can't find a way to say "it" anew then eventually we might fizzle out. You know...... it's all been said, so we pack up and say goodnight.
That would be a pity.

Just my musing on your comment.
But again I know what you mean. It is so difficult.
