Getting an early start on this in case I forget as I am busy with family at the moment.

A good response to the last prompts with a few different ideas coming through - Well done everyone who participated.

Heres a bit of a new challenge for those who are interested - writing a Kyrielle sonnet :o :shock: :D :roll:

A Kyrielle Sonnet consists of 14 lines (three rhyming quatrain verse and a non-rhyming couplet). The Kyrielle Sonnet also has a repeating line or phrase as a refrain (usually appearing as the last line of each stanza).

Each line within the Kyrielle Sonnet consists of only eight syllables. French poetry forms have a tendency to link back to the beginning of the poem, so common practice is to use the first and last line of the first quatrain as the ending couplet. This would also re-enforce the refrain within the poem. Therefore, a good rhyming scheme for a Kyrielle Sonnet would be:

AabB, ccbB, ddbB, AB -or- AbaB, cbcB, dbdB, AB.

Lets see what our poets can do with this - write on any subject you like - You up for it? Away you go then

Hiya Dot - Here's one written by a poet in America Doris Emmett - a friend of mine

The air...it smells like snow...I'm sure!
A hint there is...so clean...so pure!
In truth the thought delights me so...
Since always have I loved fresh snow!
~~~~~
The wispy flakes like finest lace
Fall soft upon my hair and face
Beneath my feet...crunch as I go
Since always have I loved fresh snow!
~~~~~
Grey snow cloud moves across the sky
No need to worry...wonder why...
In truth it gladdens me you know...
Since always have I loved fresh snow!
~~~~~
The falling white so soothes my soul
My "happy"... like a vine it grows...
Forever penned in indigo...
Since always have I loved fresh snow!
~~~~~
The air...it smells like snow...I'm sure
Since always have I loved...fresh snow!
