homework 11 Jan 2015. UV

Post by Neville Briggs » Mon Jan 05, 2015 12:47 am

UV

What pleasure were those lazy summer days
out on the beach, just soaking up the sun
and surf in uninhibited bare hide.
As sunshine danced and sparkled on the waves
we lolled like pale lethargic seals, on wide
warm sands, replete with seaside feast and fun.
Surf's no fun now, as chemo makes you crook
and half a nose is not a good beach look.

If we could all be old and wise before we grew young we wouldn't make the same mistakes.

G'day Heather, Bob. My take on , quote Maureen " the barbs and stings that nature sends ".

Bob could do one on the box jellyfish. ;)

Good insight there Neville - as a lot of us baby boomers are NOW well aware of - and yet still the beaches are covered with exposed bodies each weekend.

Half a nose is pretty gruesome but I had a lovely gentleman who was one of my regulars when I worked in health insurance, and this poor mans face was like a patchwork quilt that had been crudely cobbled together - all a result of numerous skin grafts after having BCC's removed-not a look anyone should aspire to

I like your
pale lethargic seals
  That's a great line

Thanks for the feedback Maureen :) When I used to wait for my wife at the cancer treatment hospital I saw a few people who had had noses removed because of cancer. It's one of the more obvious and humiliating results of that dreadful disease.

Too much information Heather :o

Excellent Neville!! Now there's a fine example of an 8 line poem that says so much, so well and so succinctly!

If you're not sure what I'm referring to, check out the interchange we've been having in Writing Workshop under the heading of "Techie-Wreckie Jottings" - which started out as David's homework for this current fortnight.

Some interesting thoughts re the length of winning poems, and so on - together with the "Aussie-izing" of a famous sonnet !! :)

Cheers, Shelley
