BACK TO REALITY

In a squalid corner of a despicable room,
painted with despair and cocooned in a gloom.
His back to reality, entombed by the walls,
scratching the itching, the skin as it crawls.
Searching for one more black usable vein
to ride the syringe to nirvana again.
Behind him the world he once knew marches on.
His back to reality, a breath and he's gone.

Chilling indeed Allan, and straight to the point - I particularly like (if that's the right word for such a subject) the line 'to ride the syringe to nirvana again'.
