Homework 4/5/15
Well Bob you egged me on and I thought I'd write nonsense and started out that way but I got a bit sentimental. Just a first draft and I may re-write. but....
No Silver Spoons © Dot Church 02.05.15
I’m just a humble person that is what methinkets
No precious heirlooms maybe some tawdry trinkets
And these I choose to call me bibs and bobs so quaint
without the bibs there is no bobs; no there just ain’t.
My father was a labour man he was real gruff.
Times of harsh reality, for life was sometimes tough.
Let me tell you I never saw those silver spoons
But we had ice-cream on Sunday afternoons.
We had no real wealth to keep under lock and key
but a happy family where lots of love flowed free.
The little things we had, made life so worthwhile,
Tawdry little trinkets to make a young girl smile.
I never hankered for silver spoons so cold
I had a family, their hearts were made of gold.
I’m still a humble person and wiser one assumes
richer with memories, no need for those heirlooms.

Polish those trinkets Dot and I think you have a ripper of a poem here - I like it - and good on you for having a go as well

Good start Dot.
You reminded me;
Better is a dinner of herbs
where love is
than a fatted ox
and hatred with it.

Hi Dot
I really liked your poem.
I reckon you found what really are treasures.

Terry's right Dot - you make a good point that with or without the trinkets the real treasures are the precious memories.
