HARD TACK - Homework for w/e 10.08.15

Post by Maureen K Clifford » Wed Jul 29, 2015 9:50 am

HARD TACK … Maureen Clifford © The #ScribblyBark Poet

Sparkling white wine with brie and salt biscuit
sits on my table am I game to risk it?

Doctor has told me from hideous probes
my blood pressure’s rising – why nobody knows.
But life’s been dictating the rules of the game,
well it always did, I ignored it , would claim
that the best advice that I ever received
was to live my life natural, live naturally,
which I tried, oft avoiding the pills and the potions
prescribed by a bloke who held quite different notions
to mine – our wills clashed; quite determined was he
to correct my faults and all chemically.

No! No! Cried my mind – we are not having that.
Coconut oil’s good, don’t succumb to the stat-ins
the proof of the pudding was there plain to see
my cholesterol’s dropped and I’m blood pressure free.
No credit at all will I give to his pills
and every visit is a battle of wills.
I’ll take on board advice for lifestyle and such
but the chemical overload I will not touch.

And four beautiful eyes are now looking at me
asking ' Mum can we please have some biscuit and brie?'

I may not always succeed in making a difference, but I will go to my grave knowing I at least tried.

Yes, very good Maureen - it's sort of similar to where my mind was going with these prompts. I like the way you've finish it with those last two lines.

Well done Maureen. Glad the natural remedies are working for you. :)
