Homework W/E 18/01/16: A Woven Fantasy

Post by David Campbell » Thu Jan 07, 2016 10:45 am

In the local internet cafe at the moment as our phone line is down. Just time to post the homework!

A Woven Fantasy

I’ve made a woven fantasy
with balls of coloured thread,
a picture, in reality,
that hangs above my bed.

A desert island is the scene,
and on the golden sand
you’ll see a grizzled old sardine,
a rod held in his hand.

His head is way up in the clouds,
for he is lost in dreams,
away from all the fishy crowds
in oceans, bays and streams.

But there, to greet the brand new day,
and teach him of life’s worth,
the tiddler on the hook shouts: “Hey,
I’m Bob! Come down to earth!”

Thanks all, glad you enjoyed it. Still without internet at home, which is turning out to be a very frustrating saga. A Telstra technician is supposedly coming to fix the line of Tuesday morning, so fingers crossed. You don't realise how much you rely on the internet until it's not available!

Cheers
David

I totally do David - having lost my computer all together after the mother board failed and having to start from scratch with a new one - a nightmare from my perspective. Hope you get yours sorted asap. By the way I pinched your poem for our FB page.

All good here now, Maureen. The techie guy plugged in a gizmo and said there was some mysterious fault about 200 metres away that knocked out our phone line, and hence the internet. He drove off and fixed it in a jiffy. I can sympathise with your "nightmare". In this internet age it's so easy to lose a lot of hard work.

And thanks for putting the poem on the FB page. Now all the Facebookians (?) can ponder a tiddler called Bob!

Cheers
David
