Think Globally Act Locally.

Changes

I had this sorta feeling that my life was out of line
and it seemed that things were out of my control.
Things just don't to go the way that I think they should
sometimes it’s boring, sometimes blank and even droll.

The daily grind just seems to dominate and tangle up the path
with obstacles that just get in the way.
I know the world is turning but at times I want to cry out stop
I really feel the need to have a say.

Time just seems to fly by getting faster day by day
I see the carnage that we wreak upon the land.
I could curl up and hide away and let others sort it out
but sometimes I get that urge to make a stand.

You may ask me what can we do ? we are just a tiny cog
most people really don’t know where to make a start.
It’s hard to reason with that logic but no matter what we do
only we can stop the rain within our heart.

Focus on the things we can change not those out of our reach
make the changes that we need at our own pace.
The little things we do when living define just who we are
we all can make the world a better place.

Well said Bob and a great use of the prompts - I particularly liked this verse, that's it in a nutshell really
You may ask me what can we do ? We are just a tiny cog
most people really don’t know where to make a start.
It’s hard to reason with that logic but no matter what we do
only we can stop the rain within our heart.

Cheers

Thank you Maureen and Shelley my first and second attempts were crackers as well spent a hour on one in drafts and when I went to save it the system logged me out.

Still I'm a stubborn bastard and this helium balloon thing has got me riled so look out you local pollies and councillors.

Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley saw some graffiti on a wall and wrote a musical based on the graffiti words. Stop the World I want to Get Off.

This is a sample of Blake's protest poetry on animal cruelty;

“A Robin Redbreast in a Cage
Puts all Heaven in a Rage.
A dove house fill’d with doves and pigeons
Shudders Hell thro’ all its regions.
A Dog starv’d at his Master’s Gate
Predicts the ruin of the State.
A Horse misus’d upon the Road
Calls to Heaven for Human blood.
Each outcry of the hunted Hare
A fiber from the Brain does tear.”

― William Blake

Weird stuff, but I think this sort of thing led eventually to the establishment of the R.S.P.C.A..

Yes indeed Bob - great poem and very true...only we can stop the rain within our heart....we all can make the world a better place...

The Bells of Heaven

'Twould ring the bells of Heaven
The wildest peal for years,
If Parson lost his senses
And people came to theirs,
And he and they together
Knelt down with angry prayers
For tamed and shabby tigers
And dancing dogs and bears,
And wretched, blind pit ponies,
And little hunted hares.

Ralph Hodgson (1871-1962)

Good one Bob. Like Blue Mink said ... "What we need is a great big melting pot ..."

Those last two lines say it all, Bob...it's the "little things we do". That TV ad of the father 'driving' a car while attached by strings to his son in the back seat, although not related to the environment, is a brilliant illustration of the way that things we do can affect others.

Cheers
