The Love There That's Sleeping

You will never hear
the words of my poem,
though they’ll echo through time
touching paths you may roam.
And you will never feel
the warmth of my arms
that ache to enfold you
and keep you from harm.

You will never see
the tears that I’m weeping,
or know in my heart
the love there that’s sleeping.
And you will never know
the pain that I feel,
for it’s locked up in dreams
that I’ll never reveal.

The truth of it is,
you were never aware
of the love I could give
or the dreams we could share.
That’s a secret
I hid deep inside,
like the hurt that I found
oh so hard to hide.

So goodbye my love,
and if you think of me
at the end of the day
in some fond memory,
just know as you journey
that forever in my keeping
safe harbour; my heart
for the love there that’s sleeping.

I Really enjoyed reading this Wazza
This ones a keeper mate.

Everyone's setting the bar so high - I'm still looking at the prompts while hoping for inspiration.

Indeed they are Terry.

This is a lovely poem Wazza and if based on truth it would seem that some unlucky lady out there never knew what she was missing out on and that is very sad :(

Hi Wazza

I really like your use of repetition of the prompt line - including the italics. Makes it resonate. Good one!

Cheers

Thanks everyone ... no not personal. I almost didn't post this one, thought it was a bit soppy.

Aw come on Robere! I have seen you get in touch with your soft side on occasions - you blokes need to know that doing so raises your estimation immensely in the eyes of the ladies ;)

A very touching poem Wazza, and I too like the repetition of the prompt line. It may not be personal but for one reason or another I think many of us can relate to these words x
