Sixteen Years.

"Your children are on loan to you."
I hate that point of view.
I'll invest my very soul
Until my life is through.

I sit with cardboard boxes
and I don't hold back the tears.
She's moving to the city -
it's been only sixteen years!

I'm packing little houses,
little dolls and fluffy bears.
She's packing little shorts and tops
and things a young girl wears.

Sneakily I secret in
old photos of our clan
Sneakily she secrets in
a lipstick - 'cause she can.

Our family tree has fruited
many confident young girls.
Not cellophane and tinsel -
but hardened, polished pearls.

Lovely metaphors again, Wendy! They are becoming your trademark. :D

Good use of the prompts linked to an unavoidable fact. Nicely done Wendy
