Homework W/E July 10th: Elimination?

Elimination?

If you love it or hate it, you have to admit
that in poetry circles free verse is a hit.
It’s not nice to see rhyming verse take second place
(although some might well argue it isn’t a race),
and let’s hope equal footing lies somewhere ahead
with a fair and sustainable balance instead
of a gradual fading away of our rhymes
as the poetry world moves along with the times.
So without fear or favour let’s send out our verse
to those comps that are open, for better or worse,
and perhaps we can show them just what can be done
when there’s metre and rhyme and a prize to be won!
