Homework 30/7/18 RESURGAM

RESURGAM

We drank his health all day until
the rising of the moon;
until we howled and yodelled in
a crazy loony tune.

We drank the beer and quaffed the scotch
and swilled the home-brew stout,
We guzzled, gulped and golloped hard
until the drink gave out.

The world whirled round, the crimson sun
was sinking in the west;
at this stage then, we thought it best
to have a little rest.

Like murdered gangsters strewn about
On Valentine’s grim day,
we slumped around the campfire which
then died in ashes grey.

The only stirrings when the call of
nature came along;
( going bush with senses reeling
gives a kind of creepy feeling!)

Of course the new day came along
with many an aching head.
And when life stirred, the curlew ceased
his wailing for the dead.

WOW! Sounds like a fun weekend Neville - I'm surprised you remembered any of it :roll: :lol: Great use of the prompts by the way in this somewhat rollicking tale

Really enjoyed this Neville. I felt almost as if I were actually there, (with head reeling from all that booze mind you!)...and I love the way you've ended it, with the curlew ceasing his wailing for the dead when life stirred.

Thanks for the kind encouragement Catherine. :)

Now Maureen, you should know I wouldn't be a party to such debauchery, obviously I relied on eye witness accounts. :roll:

Reminds me of things from long ago that I'd prefer to now forget - ah! my misspent youth.

Well done Neville.

Neville! How do you know of such things?

Fun poem though!

Coppers see the best and worst of humanity I suspect :shock: - I am sure (am I??? :roll: ) that Neville has only drawn on his vast experience of events that occurred in his workday lifetime
