Have been away a bit this month and computer time has been very limited, but finally got something done. :D

Three Mary’s Sonnet.

Three Mary’s known for their bushranging deeds
fell foul of the law, in love’s quest it seems,
as all were partnered, satisfying needs,
to armed men of ill fame with lawless schemes!
In Tassie’s green isle, Mary Cockeril rode,
with her partner, the convict Michael Howe,
while Mary Ann Bug in New South Wales showed
to Thunderbolt, her staunch love did avow!
And in the same State Mary Winter Joined
her lover John Tennant in violent theft,
all Three Marys guilty of goods purloined
with bad intent, and, of conscience bereft!

What led these women to their paths of crimes?
No doubt, it was the harshness of the times!

Good on you Ron - thanks for sharing in with the Three Mary's theme ... the ladies seem to have scared everyone else away

It is a wonderful bit of our history though I hope you agree - how many Aussies I wonder even know of it

Excellent Ron
Got hattrick mate.
Covered it exceptionally well just shows what can be done with a few well-chosen words.
Really enjoyed the read as well.

Thanks Maureen and Terry, I appreciate your comments.
Yes certainly been a bit quiet on here lately Maureen.
And yes, definitely a wonderful bit of our history. On the subject of lady bushrangers I came across a book called the 'The Lady Bushranger, the life of Elizabeth Jessie Hickman' written by Pat Studdy-Clift. It is later years (she was captured and went to trial in 1928) but is an amazing story and a really good read if you can get hold of it.
Cheers
Ron.

Covering all three in one sonnet is no mean feat, Ron - very impressive!
