Homework Dec. '24. A Few Thoughts On Gratitude.

Didn't get to use the prompts with this one but I think the essence of it conforms to the theme required. That is counting our blessings for living in this wonderful country! A bit of a different slant, that, I hope isn't taken as a rant!

Taken this down as I just want to change a few things and will repost.

Decided not to repost this one, for a couple of reasons, but won't go into that here.

I had second thoughts about mine as well, in my case I felt I wasn't really getting to true meaning of the thought behind the prompts.
But in the end, I was too lazy to do it again.

Well you get another chance for January Ron as the theme is similar but not the same. Personally I don't reckon we should sell ourselves short. We all do it, rethink, agonize, doubt ourselves and what we have committed to paper. Are we sharing too much of ourselves? Do we really want people to know that? Is that thought going to trigger off some nasty comments? etc etc

We need to be kind to ourselves, trust our fellow poets and wordsmiths. Ignore the naysayers and troublemakers who stir the pot just because they can. They do not share our aspirations and will never rise to the heights that we will because they lack imagination and empathy, and people skills. Trust your own muse

Well, here is my reworked poem for last month, a bit late I know.. Initially I thought it may have been a bit divisive, so didn't post, but then again that seems to be a lot of the problem with our beautiful country at the present time.
And after Maureen's wise words in her post (thank you Maureen) I have put it up.


A Few Thoughts on Gratitude.

Dare it be at all possible,
just to make an observation
that some, in the halls of power,
fan the flames of agitation,
In the name of age old hatreds
(that so nigh predate creation),
where they rev up all the fear speech
in the taunts of demonstration.
Do they really wonder at all
why there’s no appreciation
as the antics in their status
are devisive in translation
and it all reflects so sadly
on the prospects of our nation,
with the diatribe gibberish
in the blame game of causation,
that! could be then deserving
of expulsion for negation.
As some violent crimes committed,
of late, are in all summation
an attack on all Australia,
not just those of segregation!
And the interests of our country
would be best in their oration
and not self-served agendas where,
they insult all invitation!
And some try to rewrite history
with distorted sad fixation,
where they would do much better, in
making positive donation,
to uniting Australia
then they’d earn appreciation!
And, done with grace and dignity?
Well …they’d have our admiration!
And of gratitude for this land
there should never be cessation,
and it’s ONE and ALL Australians
please! consent this …realisation!

Very well said, (well written) Ron and I couldn't agree more.
Unfortunately, the lack of leadership and direction from both sides of politics has gone on for a long time.
what is happening, and now getting worse, is un-Australian in my view.

Thanks Terry, yes sadly it is not getting any better mate as time rolls on, and I reckon it is certainly a concern for future generations.
And you are dead right in saying that so many things that we are subjected to these days, are un-Australian.
