Now come on, Neville. You are hardly being fair. Nobody is saying that bush poetry is the only way to communicate. Of course there are other ways - perhaps some of them are better. Each has its trade-offs. But bush poetry does have its rules - probably more than most. That's just the way it is.

Come on. Admit it. You just enjoy being 'one out'. You could join a poetry forum for free verse any day of the week, but you wouldn't be able to paint yourself as a rebel there (unless you started defending bush verse, which you probably would). The truth is you love bush poetry, but what you love even more is poking it in the ribs, and being painted as a 'maverick'. That's a pretty fair assessment of the state of things isn't it?

Nothing wrong with growing old disgracefully - I totally support Neville's usually highly successful efforts to get some good conversation going

I don't understand how I am being unfair.

The point I wanted to make, is that the English language is a devil of a thing and resolutely refuses to always arrange itself into neat syllable counts and regular stresses. English poetry ( including so-called bush poetry ) will always be bumpy in parts, that's the nature of the language, we shouldn't need to agonize over every little rough bit, that's what " hand made " things look like.
Nothing to do with poking ribs, everything to do with promoting enjoyment of bush poetry as distinct from an obstacle race to the winning post.

As for those speculations and hypothetical over my character, I think that is most unfair, because they are wide of the mark.

I acknowledge I was going out on a limb a bit there, Neville - but you do seem to be a bit contrary at times. I apologise if I have caused any offence.

Neville's not contrary. He just likes to play Devil's Advocate and get people to think and to discuss.I reckon he might have been on the debating team at school! ;) :) (And if not he should have been)..
