OK, here's a little exercise for you. There's not a lot of poetry being posted at the moment so let's find out why. Maureen and Stephen are excused from this exercise.

I'm not writing poetry at the moment because:
In a nutshell my life is busy and I have committments that keep me from writing. My mind/head is not in the right space to write poetry. I have three poems written over the past 12mths which are currently in competitions so I haven't posted them. I'm tinkering with improving some older poems. I spend a lot more time writing any one poem. When I first started it was probably one a week, then one a fortnight, then one a month. It's probably less than that now. I'll write something when I've got something to write about and when I do I want it to be something I like.

I'm not writing poetry at the moment because:
I can't fink of nuffin to rite about. There's just a big black cavern of echoing emptiness in my head. I have been waiting waiting waiting every so patiently for ideas to return, but zzzzzzzzzzzzz ... nothing.

I am reviewing some old stuff, I have written some new stuff while away from home but haven't even had time to put it into the computer yet. So it sits in the notebook (written in pencil as usual) on the computer desk waiting for a spare minute or three.

I was thinking of digging out something to submit to the next magazine but haven't even done that yet. my excuse is I've had the 'flu' that s going round and haven't even been to the Gym or Ukulele lessons since I got back from Glenny's.

I must try harder, I must try harder.(how many times was that Miss?)

I'm not writing poetry at the moment because I've run out of paper and I'm locked in this cubicle and I can't GET OUT ....

I'm not writing poetry at the moment because ... uumh, not sure really, no inspiration I guess. Like others I also have been looking back over some of the oldies and giving them a bit of a facelift. Actually some of 'em weren't all that bad, at least that's what I tell myself.

I have to admit my attention span on any 'new' project is about 2 years, so poetry (and the forum) has held my attention longer than most.

I'm still writing but very slowly, starting to loose the urge a bit I suspect.

Like others I have been looking over some old ones as well to see if they could possibly be brought back to life.

I do notice that poems seem to take much longer to write these days than before - anyone else notice this?
