its been twenty years this year, the Australian Bush Poets Association, needs to move on.

Good to move on Duncan, but from WHERE? And as Keats said where too?

... and yet, to "move on", people will need to WANT to 'move' ...

I'd invite all to re-read the ABPA Strategic Plan that came out of that comprehensive survey we held two years ago, and was put together by the ABPA Strategic Management Plan sub-committee, it's on the home page (been there a while actually).

This plan shows where we are now (as of two years ago), where we need to get to, how to do it and what the problems may be ...

It's all there ...

We all know we need to do something; but what?

Most importantly you need to have the majority agreeing on any proposed change.

Good to see it being discussed though.

(1) this is an Australian association, so we need to have a permanent base. (i'd say in Tamworth, because this was where it started from)
(2) I'd like to see the A.B.P.A. , on a short television add, say fifteen seconds of airplay. ( but we need a sponsor in this field.)
(3) we do have a deposit to bring these things real, but we need some one that is dedicated to our association. to make this happen.

So we would need our Committee based in Tamworth. Why? Are there enough Poets there who are willing to be nominated and accept positions on the Committee? We are a Committee, not a building. And ven though you say this is where it all started, in the same breath, you said we 'need to move on'? I don't understand storey. To move on, you advance from your roots.

(2) I'd like to see the A.B.P.A. , on a short television add, say fifteen seconds of airplay. ( but we need a sponsor in this field.) Fair Call. We will just have to raise membership funds to afford this. What do we advertise? What is the product we are actually selling? What is in it for the consumer? Does the public care? Lot to be weighed up before on air advertising.

But that is just my two bobs worth. Looking forward to hearing from others.

But a healthy debate you have started, and gives thought to many directions our Association can move in, as it needs to do.

My comment is..

We may say 'someone' should - but who is wiling to be the 'someone' to actually take on any of the roles (or positions on the committee) that will implement the proposals once they have been approved by the membership.

In my case I already have many responsibilities related to the promotion of Australian Bush Poetry, therefore I am not able to step forward in this case, or at this time. There must be other members who have the needed skills to take the positions. Come on folks speak up.

I would recommend having a read of the ABPA Strategic Plan (it's on the home page of the web site).

If anyone is unsure about the purpose of a Strategic plan, and the reason the ABPA developed one, let me know and I'll be happy to explain.

Yes i think a short television add, would suit all bush poets , past and present. as you said neil, this would boost membership for the A.B.P.A.
it would give people an inspiration.
