Greetings All! I have recently joined the Forum and look forward to participating in your interchanges. I am a fifth-generation resident of the Wide Bay Region of Queensland and while I have written poetry all my life, I have only relatively recently begun to "expose" it to public view. Over the past two years I have been privileged to win a number of written and performance awards. My husband and I now perform together at local and regional events and in competition. As I have just retired after 43 years in the workforce, I am confident that the many exciting adventures ahead will include poetry - poetry - and more poetry

And welcome from me also Shelley, one question if I may (I think I may be correct) are you the same Shelley that visited Willie Station a little while back and wrote a poem about 'Tiny Tim' the Emu. Myra Tolhurst (we are very good friends) sent me a copy
which I really enjoyed, as I had heard the story several times before.

Hi Ron, yes I am the Shelley who knows Myra and set the Tiny Tim story to verse. It was such a great yarn, and I didn't have to embellish it at all, just told it the way she related it! I'm so pleased you enjoyed it. We had a wonderful couple of days with Myra and we've kept in touch with her since. She is an amazing lady!
Regards, Shelley

Hi Shelley, yes she is one amazing lady for sure. Our common thread is that my Great Grandfather used to manage Willie aprox. 1890/1903.
Cheers
Ron

Ron - that is amazing! Have you researched the history? More importantly, is there a poem there?

Thanks Mannie - and g'day to you too! I'm sorry to fall short of Bob's expectations of a gorgeous, glamorous, single gal ... but there you go, we can't all be perfect, can we?
Looking forward to catching up on the weekend at North Pine. Weather's pretty ordinary here ... glad the festival is indoors!
Cheers, Shelley
