JACARANDA
There's hundreds of Jacarandas around Singleton. At this time of year the landscape is a riot of lilac coloured blossoms. They are messy, smelly things, and not native but very spectacular in the short flowering season, as I am sure most of you would know.
This is a big one in the main street of Singleton near the river.

Re: JACARANDA
Thanks Heather. Grafton NSW is famous or its jacaradas, I think Singleton has more than Grafton, but probably not as consistently big and showy.

Re: JACARANDA
We've got our share at Ipswich as well
- there's a pool of perfumed purple posies prettying up the park at Goodna as we speak where we have just celebrated our annual Jacaranda Festival. Sadly a lot of the older trees were severely damaged in the 2011 floods and had to be removed but the council have replaced them and are blooming beautiful.

The Poincianas seem a bit slow about coming into bloom this year - usually they are out at the same time as the Jacarandas
Loved your photo Neville - that is a gorgeous tree

Re: JACARANDA
Very good Manfred. In your photos you got a better depth of colour than mine. Perhaps with the varied greens and stronger tonal contrasts.

Re: JACARANDA
Our trees are not tarts, they are respectable.
Actually Maureen, in the right light it does have colour like that. It's a wonderful colour.
