Dogs on bikes

The Police came to my house the other day and said my dog had chased someone on a bike.
I said don’t be daft my dog can’t even ride a bike.
Do you think a comma would help here.

Not sure about that, but an inversion might -
The police came to my house the other day and said someone on a bike has been chased by my dog!
