Re: NORTH PINE CAMP OVEN FESTIVAL & GRAHAM FREDRIKSEN MEMOR
Thank you. Not sure about publication at the moment, Neville.
Heather, my father used to make an extra bowl of porridge every morning and eat it cold that night just before going to bed. By that time it had the consistency of concrete, and probably tasted much the same. Said it put a lining on his stomach, whatever that means. And, as Neville says, well done on getting a little bit of Kilmore's history into Queensland.
Cheers
David

Cold porridge sounds like an old wives' tale to me. It almost rivals cold fish and chips! Ugh!
Thanks David. I'm never going to win a comp with my style of writing but it's nice to get a pat on the back now and again. I'm sure most of Queensland will never have heard of Kilmore. The town is very sad at the moment and not a patch on what it used to be. I'm working on another history book about the characters of the town.

Hey, hey, hey Heather - not only have I heard of Kilmore, I've been there!!! And me a true blue banana-bender from north of the border
After your success with "Victoria in Queensland" - perhaps I'll have to pen a poem about Duckinwilla and enter it into something prestigious down there! That would set them scratching their heads!
Hearty congratulations to all on your successes - and thanks for the kind words about my poems, David! Again, you've done what comes naturally and shown us all the standard to emulate. Onward and upward
Cheers, Shelley.

When were you in Kilmore, Shelley? Funnily enough I met a lady the other day in the Blue Mountains whose ancestor lived in Kilmore and he rates a mention in my last book so she was pretty chuffed about that. I look forward to the poem on Duckinwilla Shelley
Can't say I've heard of that one.

It was a couple of years ago - we drove through that whole area while visiting relatives down that way. Definitely have to spend more time in Victoria in the future - we've seen parts of the State but not all. Keep a lookout ... we'll be the ones towing the caravan at 80 kph

There's lots to see in Victoria and it's compact
Would suggest March as the best time of the year.
Caravans go faster than 80km?

Sorry to say I missed the lot but was in the Bundy area with an old friend who recently had a mastectomy. Friends before facts and fiction I always say...
Congratulations to all the winners. I have not got any feedback yet on the new format as I'm not long home and struggling to get the house ready for sale...downsizing. Perhaps Manny can give us his overview?
Kind regards to all

Re: NORTH PINE CAMP OVEN FESTIVAL & GRAHAM FREDRIKSEN MEMOR
Thank you to all the members for the assistance given to ensure that our Annual
Camp Oven Festival was the success that it was. No doubt there are
aspects that we can do better but the overall opinion is that it was most
successful.
Those who attended the student competitions at St
Williams, Grovely on Thursday had to be impressed with not only the
number of students who chose to perform but the standard they
displayed in their performances. Along with the generosity of Mick
Martin the North Pine Bush Poets presented each of the performing
students with a copy of Kym Eitel's awards winning children's book,
"You've got To Be Kidding".
We invited the three top performers in the Year
6/7 Section to perform with the professional poets in the Saturday
night concert. One student Melissa Edwards performed.
The innovation of Workshops in Written, Performance and Lyric Writing
on the Saturday were thoroughly enjoyed by all who were able to
attend. 130 patrons attended the Gala Concert on the Saturday night
and Greg and Glenny gave them a very entertaining show. The success
of this concert was in no small way due to the advertising that John
did as well as the results of the three concerts that members gave at
Samford, Dayboro and Wheller on the Park.
Competitions on Sunday were of a high standard and I would particularly like to mention the
Novice Section where we were blown away by the performances of
Ian McDonald and Donald Macqueen. Many of our members featured
in the winners' circle including Mick Martin, Jill Gold (First &
Second Reading)Ian McDonald (First, Novice): Tony Dale, John
Pampling, Kay Gorringe (First, Second, Third Intermediate); Cay
Ellem, Suzanne Honour (First & Second Open Ladies); Kevin Dean
& Paddy O'Brien tied for First and Jim Kennedy Third (Open Male).
The Graham Fredriksen written award went to David Campbell of
Victoria with, A Pair of Loving Eyes. This competition saw some
entries from all over Australia and overseas. Congratulations to all the place-getters.
Unless you have been on committee you would not appreciate all the work that has to be
done in assuring that this type of festival is successful. You should
be very proud of yourselves as you rallied to assist in the day-to-day
duties. Special thanks go to Rita Dean for all the work she and Mary
Finch did to assure that we made good money from the raffles. I
reserve a special thank-you to my committee of John Best,
Manfred Vijars, Lorna Spackman, Glennys Best and Mal Beverage.
This is the engine room of any organisation and once again they did
us proud.
