Old desires and regrets
Leonie Parker © Tuesday, 6 September 2011

I found him on his face book site
his profile hinted I was right
in thinking he was someone I’d once known.
I left a message on a whim
and soon enough I heard from him,
that old familiar chuckle on the phone.

My memory skipped back in time
to when we both were in our prime
and once again the taste was bitter sweet.
Forbidden fruit was our fare then,
today we played ‘remember when’
and made half hearted promises to meet.

I wonder what he’s thinking now,
will memories of me somehow
awaken old desires and regrets,
or will we once again lose touch?
I guess it doesn’t matter much,
the past is past, we settled all our debts.

OOOOh Leonie tell us more    Is he like the colt from old regret that got away?

Good poem though. Hope the years have been kind to him ;) Now no one could complain about this not being a poem with current connections to time - it's very generic though... need to slip in a drop bear so we know its Australian

Cheers

I may not always succeed in making a difference, but I will go to my grave knowing I at least tried.

A lovely little skip back in time Leonie. I reckon sometimes it would just be nice to be a fly on the wall for a bit.
