A real ballad Manfred. I think Maureen's comment about music is spot on, because the old ballads, I understand, were songs or chants just as much as stories.

Bushranger's sayings seem to have been celebrated, the words of the lawmen forgotten.

There was a Constable in those days who was in bed seriously ill when he was told that the bushrangers were on the rampage. he got out of bed to go on duty and his colleague told him that he was too ill. His last words were " I'll just have to do my best "
The bushrangers shot him dead.

Great stuff Manny. Really enjoyed it.

Given your music talents I reckon it would be a monty for you tube as a song. (or sung verse?)
