Yes, I remember Tubby the Tuba well. It probably was Danny Kaye. He was great.

Never heard Tubby the tuba although we did have a fella play for us at Moura called.

I've done a quick Google search and found the record. It also had a lot of stuff by Hans Christian Andersen. It was one of my favourite records during my childhood and I played it over and over. Wikipedia gives its date as 1980, but there was clearly a very much earlier version than this.

Hans Christian Anderson, The Court Jester; the Shoemaker, in Red Shoes and lots of others. he was a very funny comedian and singer, admired by children.
If he performed your song Stephen he would do all the actions and have the Children following him down the lane!
