A Verse for Christmas.

One of my early attempts recycled. A verse for Christmas time.


ADVENT

My child, I saw dark space burst out in light
and at my Word, the worlds and time began.
When all the work was done complete and good
a universe revealed creative power.
But you, my child, were formed to share my love.

Remember how the earth was fresh and bright;
a place to celebrate abundant life.
Your mind and will were free for you to use;
I gave you all you need for life and love,
why did you choose to turn away from me ?

The world was good; but now is laid to waste,
and there, the din of battle mutes my voice.
Truth is changed into a vicious lie,
my justice crushed by cruel abuse.
My child is ravaged by the curse of death.

The ruined things I surely make anew.
My child; my love for you will never fail,
I would lay down my life so you might live,
but you, my child, refuse to come to me.
So it must be, that I will come to you.
