THE WORDS I HATE TO HEAR

The Words I Hate to Hear

There’s not too many lines or words assured to send me mental
however, one exception is a phrase that mentions dental,
even more so if there’s talk involving root canal
especially by a dentist in a manner quite banal.

My worst fear has been realised, I’ve heard the stern address,
my dentist says tooth seventeen is pretty much a mess.
There are two options, he’s advised – one is whip it out
or undertake a root canal and fill it up with grout.

Either of these offers has me shaking in my boots,
afraid of pending mugging on seventeen’s deep roots.
You treat ‘em much for granted, the molars in the mouth
though, quickly you’re attentive when things start heading south.

It seems I’ll have to overcome my dread of tooth onslaught
despite the fact these remedies are not what I had sought.
Anaesthetic I’ll request, and in its strongest form
in the hope discomfort will be at worst lukewarm.

I’m not only resigned to have a mouth that’s full of pain
but, the nerve in my hip pocket will also feel the strain.
There’s a word describing dentists that surely isn’t nice,
“exorbitant” comes to mind when they start talking price.

Hopefully, I’ll come through this ordeal in one piece
to find the throbbing in my gum will ultimately cease,
and have a celebration, if you know what I mean
for sixty years of service from good old seventeen.

Jeff I know what your going through. I went to my dentist and my back molar which has served me for 80 years needed root canal and plastering or extraction. At the cost of about $3000. it came out. But in saying that they have found about three more that need work.i wonder what i would look like with a gummy mouth. It didnt seem to make much difference to our old ewes.just got to chew a little longer.

don't forget though Noel it's the broken mouthed ewes that got sent to the sausage factory    And I never found that funny at all but apparently they are unable to maintain body condition because they can't crop grass efficiently any more . I suppose in good times when it is longer they manage OK or if they are not competing for feed or are hand fed.

I may not always succeed in making a difference, but I will go to my grave knowing I at least tried.

G'day everyone

Thanks for your interest and comments. I'm still deliberating (and chewing on one side of my mouth). May do a sequel when I finally "face the music". Bob, just like you and your prostate and colonoscopy testing.

Cheers, Jeff

Now that comment made me squirm all over again Jeff

Mate I'm breaking in a brand new top denture for which I had 13 removals and all the bottom ones capped. No change out of nine grand.

The big problem was they gave me no quarantee about picking up the sheilas but just being able to smile in public is a bonus.
