Bill, did you ever know a fella named Jack (John) Bourke.
Home town is just near Coonabarabran, can't recall the name.
Many years with Shires, particularly out around Bourke.

Another bloody salt of the earth bloke.
Jim.

Don't think so. I don't doubt he'd spent time there.

Didn't have much family that I knew of, but plenty of mates in the far west.

It was Jack introduced me, having seen my shiny boots, to a wire nettin' waterbag.
Told me i probably could get one from RM Williams in Sydney.

Thats okay Jim. Like we used to sleep in the shade of a barbwire fence and if it got to cold, you'd pull the wirenetting on top of you for an extra blanket. Good stuff that wire netting makes a good blankets an getting trucks out of bogs. :? Keeps the rabbits divided on both sides of the fence. Collects rolly pollys an their good for starting fires with. An if you run short of some you can always get your old woman to knit some more useing 30 gauge wire wool

Yeh, she shore is handy stuff.

I usta find it too bloody cold in that much shade.

It musta bin difficult to tell the North rabbits from the South rabbits.
Did they have different markings, or did you use a magnet ?

We made our rolly pollys in the oven with apple inside - beaut they were.

Me Mum used wirenettin' for strainin' the soup to get the bones out.

Anyhow, i did go to RMs but they was outta stock, but expectin' barbed wire ones soon.

Jim.
