THE STORM IN A TEACUP

Post by Jeff Thorpe » Mon Apr 02, 2012 5:35 pm

A sequel to my poem "The Words I Hate to Hear" submitted a few weeks ago about my pending root canal treatment.

Mention of Brekky Creek T Bone refers to Brisbane's Breakfast Creek Hotel, famous for the generous sized and tasty steaks served at its bistro.

The Storm in a Teacup

Why was I so worried, it didn’t hurt at all,
now that I’m all root canalled I can stand up tall.
Admittedly the wallet came out black and blue
but that part was expected, from the start I knew.

At last I can anticipate a bite of juicy steak,
not that froggy Tartere, but one I can partake
in testing tooth seventeen, see that it’s been mended
back to a strong chomper as the exercise intended.

No more soup and pasta, or noodles and white bread
I can chew on toaster sized multi grain instead.
Brekky Creek sized T Bone will circle on my plate
peanuts will be gobbled, on that there’s no debate.

As well, I can advise there’s also more good news,
my dentist and his family are going on a cruise.
Don’t know where they’re going, think it’s on a yacht,
pleased to know my visa card has subsidised the lot.

Yeah Jeff, the most painful part of the trip to the dentist is the stop at the counter on the way out!

If only we were like the sharks...their used teeth fall out and  new ones come up to take their place.

G'day Ross, Hi Neville
The dentist is now suggesting a return trip within 6 months to have a crown fitted over the root canal. This has gone over like the proverbial lead balloon.

Regards, Jeff
