WELCOME TO MY OFFICE

WELCOME TO MY OFFICE

He said ‘welcome to my office’ with a broad and cheery grin.
‘It’s nothing flash or trendy but my friends like dropping in,
and you must agree’ he muttered, ‘ it has a fantastic view
and I never tire of seeing it, the sea and sky so blue.

Floorspace is small but suits me, the location is terrific.
When it rains it’s just as if you have let in the whole pacific,
but it gets the cooling breezes, and the sunsets that you see
make its minor imperfections fade into obscurity.

I can do some serious thinking here, especially on my own,
and I’m never troubled by the noise, or ringing telephones.
I like this spot, but if I tire of it I move away.
It’s easy when your office is a tinny on the bay.

Its’ funny how the little things can rain on your parade,
but throw a line in and you know your troubles start to fade
there’s nothing in this life at all that worrying has mended,
yet I reckon worrying has seen many a good life ended.

But come on in and welcome, sit back, enjoy the view.
It’s a million dollar morning and the fish are biting too,
wet a line, and have a beer mate and throw all your cares away.
Welcome to my office in my tinny on the bay.'

Hi ! Maureen, as I have mentioned in another thread -

Fishin' n' me we don't agree.

Sittin' in a tinny is only good when the fish stay away.

Thanks for a jolly good story.
Jim.

Thanks Jim and Heather - I wrote this one ages ago for an ex BIL by default - it was always his opening line when showing people his much loved tinny - and he loved his fishing. Still does.

I like that one Maureen. Nicely put together and says it all. I'm the world's most hopeless fisherman so the theme sadly doesn't resonate with me. ;)

M son went fishing yesterday across to Moreton Island and nearly came home with a whale. Two humpbacks surfaced about 10 feet from his boat scaring my DIL to death. He motored away from them as you should but they followed him. In the end he let the boat drift and just enjoyed their show of splashing and spy hopping.

He got a few good photos and a little video clip from the experience
