TRIQUETRA

It’s hanging by a single thread, suspended in the air
the stillness in the water reflects like a mirror, where
a thousand suns, a thousand moons and many more beside
have shone upon the deep dark depths that hug the river side.

It’s hanging by a single thread, the slightest sleight of hand
will break connection tenuous causing the leaf to land
far, far beyond the unknown for who knows where it will fly
when captured by an errant breeze that lifts it, twirls it high.

It’s hanging by a single thread, that fragile little thought
and by dates, numbers, letters for a reason it has sought.
It has broken emotions; it fears what it can’t see
it teeters lonely on the edge – to be or not to be.

And yet were we to think on it we’d surely realize
that love has seasons – sunshine, rain, and needs to compromise,
for sometimes it turns chilly, and sometimes it is hot
but always it hangs by a thread – its strength is in the knot.

That sounds really good Maureen. Very lyrical with good imagery.

Unforunately Celtic mysticism goes over my head. ;)
