WHO’LL COME A WALTZING MUTCHILBA WITH ME? Maureen Clifford © 10/12
It seems they’ve found Mutchilba though few folks knew it was lost
but the local yokels up in arms defended at their cost
the right to have Mutchilba reinstated onto maps
and GPS equipment - they weren’t copping any crap.
How could they lose Mutchilba in the first place you might ask
Well it seems nearby Dimbulah absorbed every home and park
and although it had existed since nineteen twenty three
a pen stroke by some council removed it quite easily.
It was way back in ninety nine that decision was made.
Seems no one told the local folk – they were truly dismayed
to see the lack of respect shown to them and to their town.
Communication is the key – its lack now caused a frown.
How could a council be so cruel as to eliminate
a town, and all it stood for from our lovely sunshine state.
Mutchilba might be tiny but it has the biggest heart.
The locals formed a fighting fund – Now let the battle start.
But now they’re back and planning as a celebratory thing
to hold a mango mardi-gras – a real country wing ding
‘twill be Mutchilba’s mini mango mardi-gras this year
for time is short – but a full blown one will soon reappear.
So welcome back Mutchilba and we hope this time you’ll stay
up in the hills near Atherton – and huge mangoes display
The place of many birds is back and townsfolk are elated.
It’s a win for the country bloke. Mutchilba’s reinstated.
